SemaTree was first founded as a custom CRM development firm by Michael J. Hils and A. Adam Devoe. Originally based in Haverhill, Massachusetts, we shifted to a fully distributed model in 2014 where each team member now works remotely.
This approach enables us to secure the best talent around the globe and to expand our team as needed to accommodate large implementations for our customers whose users often span multiple continents. Our team has regularly included experts from locations as far as New Zealand, the Ukraine, and India as well as throughout the United States.
Our technologies through the years have changed from EJB frameworks to Red Hat JBoss J2EE to our current application stack including AngularJS and RESTEasy. We've relied on our partnership with Red Hat since 2006 as the leading open source platform for modern and dynamic applications.

SemaTree built Oracle's "Ask the expert" module, where customers submit questions or technical support requests. The application also serves as a knowlege base for FAQs and instructional documentation. Companies utilizing this application include Verizon Wireless, NSTAR (the electric and gas utility for over 1.4 million residences in Massachusetts), the Government of Venezuela's Ministry of Science, Technology, and Industries, and HSBC bank.
Intertek Group plc is a leading testing, inspection and certification provider and is well known for their ETL Listed mark applied to consumer and industrial products in the US. As a publicly traded global certifier with over 40,000 employees, their business process requirements are vastly different between regions, departments and service offerings. Our custom applications developed for Intertek include:
• Role-based microservice applications to customize view and entry to their primary project management system
• Mobile apps for executive reporting to keep a pulse on day-to-day operations as well as trends and forecasts
• Custom CRM and ERP systems to track from initial lead to sample receipt to project tracking and beyond to audit and surveillance activities by their global inspection team
Capital Tours, Inc. serves elementary schools and organizations in full service planning of educational trips to historic destinations such as Washington, D.C., Boston, Philadelphia, and Colonial Williamsburg as well as natural wonders in Niagara Falls and as far as Hawaii.
SemaTree developed their custom web application to handle the logistical details of each trip as well as payment handling through an integration with PayPal and a customer portal to allow each family to view, pay and print receipts for their students.
